Hello Dear Reader
I wanted to make a quick post about the Boyscouts of America and their Centennial Badges of Rank. It links back to what I was saying about the Queen Scout Award in the UK.
During our 100 year anniversary did we change the badges to make them special for those scouts obtaining the award, did we even acknowledge those people who were awarded the Queens Scout in the 100th Year.
The BSA just knows how to market itself far better than we in the UK do.
I have pinched the Image of the centennial Eagle Scout badge from Scoutmaster Jerrys blogĀ The Scoutmaster Minute where he gives his thoughts on the badge. If you want to find out more check out some of the USA blogs in the links bar on the right.

Our BSA chums are making a huge thing about their centenary on Monday (quite rightly so). In fact there has been quite a build up for some time now.
You are right that the BSA does seem to market itself a little better than we do and from what I can read and hear from here they are doing a great job of putting their centenary into the public’s minds.
My only niggle is that the BSA is a little quiet on the fact Scouting actually started in 1907 and its founder was BP!
It will be interesting to read and hear all the stuff that comes out on Monday!
Oh Nick
I am sure the Americans would never accidently on purporse forget that Scouting is actually 103 years old or at lease will be on 1st August
And if it was not for the fact that their founder got lost they would not have scouts

Perhaps we're being a bit mean to the actual members of the BSA who are very aware about who BP and W D Boyce are!
