Superstitions: Do you have any?

I am not really a superstitious person, I generally think some superstitions are born out of good safety practices. The only superstition I follow is bowing to magpies

What were you doing in 1967?

I found a penny from 1967 – I was not doing anything really, I guess you could say I was -9. I think my parents may have met but I am fairly sure I was not event a thought in their minds at that time.

I was pondering the other day if there is a use for social media in scouting, or if it just adults playing around telling other adults that they are sooooo busy, they do soooo much more that two hours a week.

Hello Dear Reader I was reading the latest copy of Scouting Magazine and I came across a very interesting letter. The letter was commenting that in Scouting Magazine April/May issue it said “There is a growing tendency to promote the use of Social Networking sites among our Members” and that both Facebook and Twitter restrict the use of their service to people over the age of 13. The letter went on the comment that should we [Scouting] be promoting scouts to partake in something which “the providers themselves consider unsuitable for a large part of our membership” and that the letter also indicated that by posting information in this way we are encouraging young people to break the rules. Scouting and just saying no

Hello Dear Reader How do we fit it all in? I am currently trying to rock the baby to sleep and get her to learn that her cot is where we should sleep not in our parents bed (nawbus you’ll learn soon enough.) I have emails to write, meetings to plan, a blog to up date and not enough hours in the day. Why is it as scouters we just can’t say no? I think it is bacause deep down we remember the people in our scouting pasts who made a difference, who went that extra mile, gave a bit more time to give us the full experience of scouting and we feel that we should give back some if what we took out. At least I hope that is why and if not it is probably so we have something to moan about TTFN K
